Regulations on Ethical Approval of Research in the Field of Information Technologies

The journal Informatics. Culture. Technology seeks to ensure high ethical standards in all publications. Since the journal’s primary focus is information technologies, research generally does not involve direct experiments on humans or animals. However, if a scholarly work includes the collection, analysis, or use of personal data, user activity records, biometric data, or other sensitive information, then the following requirements apply:

1.Requirement for ethical approval. Authors must obtain approval from an authorized body (institutional ethics committee or academic council) in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine if the research concerns personal or confidential data or involves active interaction with respondents. The article must indicate the name of the approving body, as well as the decision number and date.

2.Processing of personal and confidential data. Data collection and processing must comply with the Law of Ukraine “On Personal Data Protection.” Publication must not disclose information that could identify specific individuals without their written consent.

3.Participants’ rights and informed consent. If the study involves human participants (surveys, testing, user studies), authors are required to obtain informed consent and confirm that participants were informed about the aims, conditions, and possible consequences of participation.

4.Author responsibility. Responsibility for compliance with ethical requirements rests with the authors. In the absence of an ethical approval statement or in case of violation of these standards, the manuscript may be rejected or withdrawn from publication.
